I’ve got some very cool news to share. I have a solo exhibition coming up later this month in Portland at Replicant Beer & Bottle Shop. Opening night will be April 25 at 7pm, and my art and pocket zines will be on display through May. I’m planning to make the reception a super fun event including literary readings by me, the amazing Chelsea Bieker and brilliant poet Joseph Mains. About the Exhibition:

In a world filled with screens and distractions, what does it mean to be truly present? How do we create art or write books when there’s internet in our eyes?

Drawing inspiration from comic art, these autobiographical drawings by novelist Genevieve Hudson navigate the pursuit of creativity, connection with the natural world, and a search for lesbian domestic bliss while being weighed down by the everyday realities of modern life.

“Here Right Now” explores what it means to exist as an artist, as a queer person, and someone fighting for the preciousness of their attention in today’s world.

What else I’ve been up to this week (gouache!!)

I keep thinking about the ever presence of phones in our lives, in my life specifically, and I’ve been exploring this obsession in my drawings.

Prep sketches for a painting that went so HORRIBLY no one can ever see it lol

I’m trying to understand how to translate the graphic, cartoon language of my drawings into paintings. I’ve been playing with gouache. I’m actually taking a gouache class!

My first time ever using gouache was this weekend. Here are some of my experiments. I like the flatness and the simple, saturated colors, but the journey continues.
